Isabel + Helen Studio

In Flow is an immersive public installation by London-based creative duo Isabel Gibson and Helen Chesnet of Isabel + Helen. Known for combining art, design, movement, and engineering, the studio creates works that invite audiences to experience space through motion, rhythm, and interaction. Presented at Temple Plaza, the installation marks the duo’s first exhibition in mainland China.

At the centre of the work is a 10-metre-high windmill that shifts constantly with the surrounding breeze. Its movement creates changing geometric patterns throughout the day, while at night the rotating structure casts light and shadow across the space, producing a star-like visual effect. A layered soundscape inspired by wind and water extends the experience beyond the visual, creating a calm and immersive atmosphere.

The installation is designed as a place to pause as much as to observe. Visitors can move around the water feature, sit nearby, and experience the artwork from different perspectives as its movement changes over time. Through colour, repetition, and motion, In Flow encourages a slower, more contemplative relationship with the surrounding environment.

Our team supported the development and delivery of the installation, drawing on the hexagonal form of the historic Ziku Tower at Taikoo Li Chengdu as a key design reference. The project also required close coordination with the artists across distance, including multi-angle filming and supplementary footage that allowed them to review the installation remotely throughout the process.
